We Try To Fry Ice Cream?

Alright so we were having another Mexican night and needed a dessert to go along with the theme. we had this bright idea to try frying ice cream. Kelly had only tried fried ice cream once in her life, and that was at Garcia's in Idaho Falls for her 20th birthday last December. We got online, looked up EVERY possible recipe we could and found the one with the cheapest ingredient list and the simplest instructions, and ran to the store. To make fried ice cream you first have to freeze individual ice cream balls. Once they are frozen you dip them in a beaten egg (EWW!!! Kelly has to do this part because Larissa can't handle the sliminess of it) and then cover them with the cookie/cereal/sugar coating. You then repeat this process 3 or 4 more times. Once the ice cream balls are thoroughly coated with yummyness, you drop them into a pan of blistering hot oil. I know, scary right? It was a great idea, except for the fact that Larissa decided to fill the pan too full of oil, so it almost boiled over, creating a small flame on the stove. Of course Kelly FREAKED out and got the baking soda down, just in case things got too intense. You see, an old roommate told us of the time she tried to make fried ice cream and created a grease fire...Kelly didn't feel like dying that day. But when all was said and done, the fried ice cream wasn't too bad (except for the first one, which we sadly burned because we were busy screaming about the stove being on fire). Not our stupidest "What if" moment, but a memorable one none the less.
